3 hr NRA F.I.R.S.T. Steps Pistol (NRA certified course) Offered at the Tanner Gun Show
Cost: $115

This course meets & exceeds the requirements for the Colorado Concealed Carry Permit "CWP"

The cost of this course includes NRA course certificate, NRA student book/ packet, your range fee, and firearm rental.

The FIRST (Firearm Instruction, Responsibility and Safety Training) Steps Program is ideal for the novice shooter.

The goal of this program is teach the participants the FUNDAMENTALS of Firearm Safety and Shooting.
Our FIRST Steps Program we offer is available for basic pistol and complies with Colorado statues to obtain your concealed carry permit.

In a three-hour class it provides hands-on orientation to one specific action type of pistol including a one-hour shooting session on a range! Our instructors will assist you and provide tips to get you to the level of proficiency you wish to obtain.

 The NRA FIRST Steps program provides a thorough introduction to firearm safety, handling, and shooting skills for a specific type of pistol. These skills require regular practice as does anything else to become an expert and with the help of out instructors we can guide you and show you pointers to help bring you to the level you would like to be..

If you are new to firearms and the shooting sports, a half-day FIRST Steps program may be the perfect introduction.

Topics covered in the course include: Firearm Safety Class

  1. Pistol Cartridges & Components
  2. Pistol Knowledge and Safe Gun Handling (One or the other)
    a) Semi-automatic Knowledge
    b) Revolver Knowledge
  3. Fundamental Gun Safety Rules
  4. Pistol Operation
  5. Ammunition Malfunctions 
  6. Shooting - Live Fire section of the Class
  7. Maintenance and Cleaning  

Your firearm rental is included in this course and is also mandatory for this course.


4 hr NRA Home Firearm Safety (NRA certified course)
Cost: $130

Includes:

  • NRA home safety packet and book
  • NRA course certificate
The overview of topics covered are the following:
  • Basic Knowledge
  • Skills
  • Attitude necessary for the safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition in the home 
  • Handgun cleaning / maintenance
  • Safe storage of firearms


This is a four-hour course for safe gun handling that is conducted in the classroom only. Students are taught NRA’s three rules for safe gun handling; primary causes of firearms accidents; firearm parts; how to unload certain action types; ammunition components; cleaning; care; safe storage of firearms in the home; and the benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports. Students will receive the NRA Home Firearm Safety handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, course completion certificate.


Please note that receiving the concealed carry training only qualifies you with the credentials to apply for the Colorado Concealed Carry Permit. You are also required go through a background check with the state and supply the funds needed for the fingerprint processing fee and county licensing fee.



8 hr NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course (1 day)
Cost: $200

Summary of course content:

  • The gun safety rules.
  • The parts of handguns and how they function.
  • How to handle handguns safely.
  • The components and proper storage of ammunition.
  • The fundamentals of pistol shooting.
  • Firing range procedures.
  • How to shoot from the bench rest position
  • How to shoot weaver, modified weaver, isosceles, and one handed standing positions.
  • How to sight in a handgun and score a target.
  • How to safely clean a handgun.
  • The basic guidelines for buying a handgun.
  • Ways to enjoy shooting activities after the course.
  • The legal aspects of firearms ownership and use.

We spend 7 hours in the classroom, and 3 hours range time.

For the range you will need a firearm, appropriate ammunition, and hearing and eye protection

What to bring:

  • Students are encouraged to bring their own firearm and 50 rounds of ammunition (NO RELOADS PLEASE). If you do not yet have any of these we will have some available for you.
  • Eye protection: your choice of glasses, sunglasses, or safety goggles.
  • Your own earmuffs.
  • A bag lunch on the second day.

(range may have ear and eye protection available for rent if you cannot supply your own)

This course also qualifies you for the credentials to apply for the concealed carry permit.

 **WE ARE CERTIFIED NRA INSTRUCTORS AND ARE GIVING NRA CERTIFIED COURSES IN MOST CLASSES. BY CO. LAW AND NRA REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY FOR THE CO. CONCEALED CARRY PERMIT THE INSTRUCTOR  MUST KEEP RECORDS FOR 2 YEARS. ALSO, THE CERTIFICATE YOU SEND TO THE STATE FROM YOUR COURSE MUST HAVE THE INSTRUCTOR IDENTIFICATION NUMBER OR CLASS K LICENSE NUMBER**

**Equip 2 Conceal has a NO refund policy. Our products and accommodations are arranged on a student to student basis therefore we cannot provide refunds. If an incident may come up your payment may be transferred to another class for up to 6 months as long as there is a 48 hour notice given. If Equip 2 Conceal cancels a class your deposit or payment will be credited to another class unless the reasons are out of our control. After 6 months there is no credit or transfer.
