Florida Concealed Carry Classes

Here are the classes we currently offer (check our calendar for current dates)

3 hr Level 1 Firearm Safety Course (This is not an NRA approved course)
Cost: $85 (Prepaid Online) Walk-In is additional $10

This class will meet the certification training requirements for a Florida Concealed Weapons Permit. We have several locations for you to take your Florida Concealed Weapons Class to include Tampa, Dunedin, Clearwater, St Petersburg, Pinellas Park, Ocala, Palm Beach, Jacksonville, St Augustine, Chiefland, Dade City, Bradenton, and Lakeland Florida with other cities coming soon.

In a three hour class, it provides hands-on orientation to yours or our action type of pistol in as little as three hours, including a 45 Minute shooting session on a range! Our instructor will assist you and provide tips  to get you to level of proficiency you would like to obtain.

If you are new to firearms and the shooting sports, this half day conceal carry program may be the perfect introduction.

Students may use their own firearm and ammunition in the course only after it has been inspected and cleared for use in the course by the instructors. If the student does not have a firearm one will be provided with ammuntion for this course.

4 hr Level 2 Firearm Safety Course (This is not an NRA course)
Cost: $175 (Prepaid Online) Option A **NO WALK-INS**
Cost: $250 (Prepaid Online) Option B All Inclusive except range fee

In order to enroll in our Level 2 course the Student must have a current CWP (Concealed Weapon Permit) or certificate of completion from our Level 1 course with LIVE fire.  Some exceptions can be made on a case by case basis.  This Level 2 course has been designed to prepare the student for accurate handgun training under stress.  The goal is to support the fundamentals of pistol shooting with practical shooting excercises that can be practiced at any pistol range we utilize.  In order to maintain the integrity of the course the Instructor to student ratio is kept to a minimum.  We will spend a short time reviewing not just safety, but grip, dominant eye, sight alignment, sight picture, trigger squeeze, breath control, and follow through.  All of these fundamentals will be utilized to successfully complete the course.

Topics in the course include:

1.  Pistol Shooting Fundamentals Review
2.  Opportunity to Develop Skills on a live firing range
3.  Take Home Score Sheet for each drill
4.  Four challenging drills with four caliber firearms
5.  Help the shooter master the methods of accurate shooting
6.  Enhance your enjoyment for shooting
7.  Confidence to continue building on skills with practice

Option A
Bring your own firearm and a box of factory ammunition for each handgun you bring (NO RELOADS) NOT including range fee.  If you plan on bringing the firearm most likely intended for daily carry we recommend having a box of daily carry or self defense loads instead of the range loads.

Option B
We supply 4 firearms and include a total of 100 rounds of factory ammunition between them.  These firearms will include .22 LR, .38 Revolver, 9MM, and .40Cal with substitues sometimes available.

4 hr NRA Home Firearm Safety (NRA certified course)
Cost: $125 (Prepaid Online)  Walk-In is additional $10

Includes:

• NRA home safety packet and book
• NRA course certificate

The overview of topics covered are:

• Basic Knowledge
• Skills
• Attitude necessary for the safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition in the home
• Handgun cleaning / maintenance
• Safe storage of firearms

This is a four-hour course for safe gun handling that is conducted in the classroom only. Students are taught NRA's three rules for safe gun handling; primary causes of firearms accidents; firearm parts; how to unload certain action types; ammunition components; cleaning; care; safe storage of firearms in the home; and the benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports. Students will receive the NRA Home Firearm Safety handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, course completion certificate.

3 hr NRA F.I.R.S.T. Steps Pistol (NRA certified course)
Cost: $150 (Prepaid Online) Walk-In is additional $10

This course meets & exceeds the requirements for the Florida Concealed Carry Permit "CWP" for residents & non-residents.

The FIRST (Firearm Instruction, Responsibility and Safety Training) Steps Program is ideal for the novice shooter.

The goal of this program is teach the participants the FUNDAMENTALS of Firearm Safety and Shooting.
The FIRST Steps Program we offer is available for basic pistol and complies with Florida statues to obtain your concealed carry permit.

In a three hour class, it provides hands-on orientation to one specific action type of pistol in as little as three hours, including a one-hour shooting session on a range! Our instructor will assist you and provide tips  to get you to level of proficiency you would like to obtain.

Students are encouraged to bring their own eye and ear protection, firearm, and 15 rounds of ammunition (NO RELOADS PLEASE). If a student does not yet have a firearm, one is included with ammuntion for no additional charge.

**After the NRA portion of the class the following items are included in the price of your class at Gander Mountain locations:

• CWP Florida application
• Notary Service
• Passport Photos for your permit
• Firearm rental (If you need one), Ammo for our firearms, Target, and Range fee
• Gander Mountain welcome bag

8 hr NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course (1 day)
Cost: $210 (Prepaid Online) Walk-In is additional $10

Summary of course content:

• The gun safety rules.
• The parts of handguns and how they function.
• How to handle handguns safely.
• The components and proper storage of ammunition.
• The fundamentals of pistol shooting.
• Firing range procedures.
• How to shoot from the bench rest position
• How to shoot weaver, modified weaver, asosolies, and one handed standing positions.
• How to sight in a handgun and score a target.
• How to safely clean a handgun.
• The basic guidelines for buying a handgun.
• Ways to enjoy shooting activities after the course.
• The legal aspects of firearms ownership and use.
• Students are encouraged to bring their own firearm and 50 rounds of ammunition (NO RELOADS PLEASE). If you do not yet have any of these we will have some available for you.
• Eye protection: your choice of glasses, sunglasses, or safety goggles.
• Earmuffs.
• A bag lunch on the second day.
• Four and a half hours of course instruction including:
  • Handgun Safety
  • Anatomy of Handguns
  • Practical Application

  • Fundamentals of Operation

• Extended personal range time

We spend 7 hours in the classroom, and 3 hours range time.

For the range you will need a firearm, appropriate ammunition, hearing and eye protection.

What to bring:

• Students are encouraged to bring their own firearm and 50 rounds of ammunition (NO RELOADS PLEASE). If you do not yet have any of these we will have some available for you.
• Eye protection: your choice of glasses, sunglasses, or safety goggles.
• Earmuffs.
• A bag lunch on the second day.

(range may have ear and eye protection available for rent if you cannot supply your own)

This course also qualifies you for the credentials to apply for the concealed carry permit. If you wish to apply please let us know so we can get you a Florida application packet (included in course price if requested at the time of registration)

4 Hour Women ONLY Class
Cost $175 (PrePaid Online) No Walk-Ins

Equip to Conceal Firearms Group offers our comprehensive, female only concealed weapon certification course.  This 4.5 hour course is tailored to your individual needs and will give you the opportunity to fire four different caliber handguns. You will experience the difference between a .22 caliber, .38 caliber, 9mm and a .40 caliber firearm. You will also spend an hour of personal time on the range with your instructor firing up to 50 rounds ammunition. Our small class sizes and low student to instructor ratio will offer you the personal attention needed to give you the confidence required for carrying a concealed firearm. Upon successful completion of this course you will satisfy the state requirement for a concealed weapon permit and will be Equip2Protect yourself against violent crime.

**WE ARE CERTIFIED NRA INSTRUCTORS AND ARE GIVING NRA CERTIFIED COURSES IN MOST CLASSES. BY FL. LAW AND NRA REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY FOR THE FL. CONCEALED CARRY PERMIT. THE INSTRUCTOR MUST OBSERVE THE STUDENT SAFELY HANDLE AND DISCHARGE THE FIREARM AND KEEP RECORDS FOR 2 YEARS. ALSO, THE CERTIFICATE YOU SEND TO THE STATE FROM YOUR COURSE MUST HAVE THE INSTRUCTOR IDENTIFICATION NUMBER OR CLASS K LICENSE NUMBER**

NOTE: Beware of classes that don't include the correct shooting counterpart required by law. These classes do not fulfill the states requirements and can get you in trouble.

If an incident may come up your payment may be transferred to another class for up to 30 days as long as a 48 hour notice has been given. If Equip 2 Conceal cancels a class your deposit or payment will be credited to another class unless the reasons are out of our control.
